Greg Boyd-Coach

I was a three sport letter winner in high school in football, basketball, and track. I started as a sophomore in both football and basketball. I earned a scholarship to D1 Iowa State in football as a defensive back. I was able to learn from two different prominent strength and conditioning coaches. I learned a lot of information and gained a ton of experience. I learned the importance of proper technique and the importance of building a solid foundation. With my experience, in addition to studying the newest techniques in strength and conditioning, I wanted to pass the things that I’ve learned to others. There is so much misinformation in the field of strength and conditioning. Our athletes train with proper form, the right way, and build strength on top of this foundation.

What people are saying about Coach Greg:

“Greg boyd is not just a coach, he’s a technician. I have been training people for 11 years and he has improved my training. He has changed what I focus on greatly in my training and that of my clients. He is also one of the most well read and knowledgable coaches/trainers I’ve ever been around.” -Jason Daniel, GitFit training.

We lift heavy stuff to get stronger. We run fast. We jump high. We reserve the right to use any and all means necessary to turn our athletes into the best they can be. Olympic weightlifting, Powerlifting, Gymnastics, Strongman, CrossFit, Sprints, Plyometrics, Body weight.

Plan to get better every time you show up.

Matt Boyd-Coach (No Relation)
My fitness background started as a young person and like many people, I have gone through good and bad times in terms of my health and fitness. During the bad times, I ate and drank terribly. I didn’t exercise regularly. I was “skinny fat”, lethargic, I took heart medication, I had severe back pain and probably suffered from depression.

During the good times of personal health, I was a college basketball player, an officer in the U.S. Army and now I am a full time fire fighter and a Crossfit Level 1 Coach. I eat a mostly Paleo diet (which I highly recommend). I exercise vigorously many times a week using the Crossfit methodology. I am 40 years old and I have never been stronger or felt better than I do right now.

I grew up in north Alabama and came to Tennessee via the Army in the mid 90s. My family is the most important thing in my life. My wife Windi has tolerated me for nearly 14 years now and we share a great son, Carson. I have a 17 year old son named Chase that lives in Alabama who has become a very physically fit young man in his own right. As a full time Fire fighter I am passionate about my job, my brothers and several charitible organizations. Those include the Muscular Dystrophy Association, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Soul for Soles and Susan G. Komen just to name a few.

After successfully coaching many friends, family members and work-mates, I want to expand the number of people that I can share my knowledge with regarding moving from sick to healthy to FIT.

I have a knack for communicating with athletes from all different backgrounds. When I say “athlete”, I don’t mean that you must have played a sport of any kind. I refer to ANYONE seeking a higher level of fitness as an athlete no matter if you are a stay at home mom, a hair dresser or a professional fighter you are still an athlete and chances are I will be able to convey our methods to you perfectly.

Wether it’s giving guidance about a better way to eat or a better way to train and exercise, I have helped clients lose literally hundreds of pounds of weight and most importantly how to move and feel better than ever. Being able to coach athletes and see so many of them succeed beyond their own expectations is a gift to me and it is what gets me the most excited.

I hope that we are able to work together soon. If you have never exercised in your life, we will start slowly and get you to where YOU want to go. If you are a former athlete that wants to get your six pack back, we can do that too. We will be teaching the Crossfit methodology. However, it will only slightly resemble what you have seen on ESPN2. Crossfit is very scaleable and all inclusive. Literally, anyone can do it. I can’t wait to get started.
